Here is a very hard to find used Moore 1440 Precision Indexer! It is in excellent condition. The 1440 can divide a 360 degree circle into 1440 parts- 15 minutes each, to a guaranteed precision of +/- -.1 second of arc at any position. It utilizes a Hirth Coupling ( think of 2 crown gears that interlock) to accomplish this and what is more....the accuracy just gets better with use. The accuracy of this instrument equals or exceeds optical polygons made of Quartz or Metal. When I talked to the folks a Moore a couple of years back, they were considering not making these anymore, and the price of a new one would be about $72,000.  We have this one priced at $36.000- half price!
We will ship this to the buyer in 2 boxes...one with just the 1440 - very well packed of course, and the other box will have the original Moore wooden storage case for this instrument. This case was never intended to be used for shipping, only for storage and if we shipped the 1440 in it, you would receive splinters and a damaged instrument. Best to avoid that...
Calibration is becoming available from Davis AA Gage, NIST, and Moore. Email your Calibration requirements before ordering, so we can get a price....Before the pandemic, NIST was charging $150 per face, so checking every 10 degrees- 36 faces, 15 degrees- 24 faces, etc....
